1926 Buffalo Nickel Business Strike — Heavily Corroded/Environmental Damage
$2.50
Category: Coins
Description
This is a 1926 Buffalo (Indian Head) Nickel, a business strike composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The reverse clearly shows the American bison on a mound with 'FIVE CENTS' legible and 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' partially readable along the upper arc. The obverse displays severe environmental damage with reddish-brown oxidation, heavy pitting, and surface corrosion consistent with prolonged soil or moisture exposure, though the date area and portrait outline remain partially discernible. No mintmark is visible on the reverse below the bison, which is consistent with Philadelphia issue, though the damage prevents a definitive determination.
